Suleman Adam, popularly known as Solly Adam, is a towering personality in Yorkshire cricketing circles. With his remarkable career that spans over four decades in English leagues, Solly has left an indelible mark on the cricketers and cricket-lovers alike, both as a competent cricketer himself, and a mentor who nurtured numerous cricketers. Since his induction as league cricketer in 1964 which includes his brief stint at Minor County Cricket, Solly's passion for the game has only heightened with increased vigour.

Solly Adam mentored and nurtured hundreds of young talents (Over 400 cricketers who were mainly from South-Asia, but also some local Yorkshire men), and among whom several cricketers rose to their eminence as international cricket stars and star legends.

Solly is the man behind securing Sachin Tendulkar's signing with Yorkshire in 1992, a historic move that forever transformed the Yorkshire cricket towards a better unity and a greater inclusivity, and had encouraged many Asians to pursue the sport seriously. He is also a man behind organising numerous benefit/testimonial matches for the well-being of cricketing fraternity. This includes several matches for popular Yorkshire County players such as Sir Geoff Boycott, Richard Lumb, David Bairstow, and Jim Love, among others.

The role and significance of Solly for cricket in England has been recognised widely during his active career, and was lauded by the media. The contribution of Solly to cricket had also been recognised by the office of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, who bestowed him with the rarest opportunity to be a part of the Garden Tea Party at Buckingham Palace in 2015.
